Farewell Octopus, at least for now

Thank you PowerMac G5, eMac and my current iMac G5. Last but not least, all the XServe G5 that keep all applications up and running without much problem.

Deploying Octopus POS

We still have quite a number of POS that need to be deployed.

1. MacAsia - 4 outlets in Malaysia
2. PowerMac Center - 4,5 outlets in Philippine
3. BTOptions - 1 outlet in Sri Lanka
4. eStore - 4 outlets in Indonesia

All the best.

Club21 Indonesia is Using Octopus

Club21 Indonesia's Octopus has been developed and deployed a few months ago. Currently there 4 outlets, including A|X and CK, are running on Octopus POS and growing.

Club21 MIS team deployed the physical machines as well as POS application.

Kok Siong took over me on JBA interface, database setup, and the rest of the backend deployment job. He also had a trip down to investigate some Octopus memory issues.

Yee Woon took over Space's code to further enhance it for fashion retail's need as well as added enhancement for various functions and reports.

I'm glad that both of them can function almost independently.

Billabong SG is using Octopus POS

Billabong has just opened the first specialty store in Singapore, which is located at Raffles City's new section in B1. Again, we have tuned the generic Octopus POS for Billabong in order to work with their current backend system, TREND.

I'm still responsible for system design, deployment and every other things, where lead programmer is Fook Lai, but he has left the company before the launch.

All price tags are printed from Sato barcode printer via Octopus POS. I used the similar technique while controlling Sato barcode printer and Epson thermal printer for the receipt.

Octopus POS first public appearance

Octopus POS official launch day is set to 21 September 2005 during the Retail IT Show 2005. After days of hard work and the designer's effort, we finally get the booth up in time.

Good to have VIPs and media's attention on our booth as well as product.

Thank you Epson for sponsoring a small corner for us at Epson Solution booth, as Octopus POS can work seamlessly with Epson thermal receipt printer as well as laser printer.

Epson booth is strategically located at the main door, and our booth is directly at the end, so we actually get traffic from both front and back.

Thank you Chi Mei for sponsoring the LCD TV, and Apple Computer for sponsoring the 2 XServe to run our backend solution. Both iMac G5 is running Octopus POS, and database is hosted inside the 2 XServe. An iBook G4 on the discussion table is showcasing Octopus Lite, a web-based POS.
